Nutrition Report On Food Intake Essay - 1693 Words

Food Intake According to my three-day food diary report, I demonstrated a diet pattern that truly lacks a healthy balance of vital nutrients. First of all, my kilocalorie intake nearly quadrupled that of my dietary reference intake (DRI) range. Secondly, my total lipids reported as considered within my DRI range. However, it was at the highest allowable percentage. Therefore, had it been one percent higher, it would have been above my recommended dietary reference intake. Third of all, my carbohydrate intake revealed drastically surpassed my DRI (although it was within my DRI range, when compared to my total fat and protein amounts, my carbohydrate percentage displayed immensely greater than the others). Finally, the results of my protein intake were extremely low compared to my suggested DRI range. In fact, the percentage was at the lowest allowed for my protein DRI, and was dangerously low in comparison to my total lipid and carbohydrate percentages. Macronutrients According to Institute of Medicine (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, 2016), macronutrients are significant to the health (or illness from malnourishment) of humans, because macronutrients are the sources of nutrients that we rely on the most for energy, growth, and healing, thus, mandatory in greater amounts.
